Naples’ 5 Favorite Caesar Salads

The Naples Caesar Salad Report

A Caesar salad is on just about every menu in Naples, but there are a few that diners get particularly attached to. I went looking for the Caesars people order repeatedly, and these five stood out.

LowBrow Pizza & Beer

LowBrow takes a few liberties with the classic. The $14.50 House Caesar mixes romaine and kale with lemony Caesar dressing and “pizza bone” croutons made from its pizza dough. Get one for the table with the O.G. wings and a Cortez the Killer pizza.

Larry’s Lunch Box

The order here is the $14.95 Chicken Caesar: romaine, croutons and Parmesan tossed in Caesar dressing, topped with blackened chicken breast. Larry’s makes its dressing in-house, and you can get the Caesar without chicken for $8.50. If you’re splitting, add a hot pastrami, corned beef or Reuben on rye.

DiJulio’s

DiJulio’s is the old-school choice. The detail that makes a difference is the crushed croutons, scattered through the salad so you get a little crunch in nearly every bite. Follow it with chicken Marsala, veal parmigiana or linguine with clams.

Mister O1

Mister O1’s Caesar is the traditionalist of the group: romaine, Italian Parmesan, focaccia croutons and Caesar dressing. It’s substantial enough to split before a pizza. I’d follow it with the Star Luca, with ricotta tucked into the points of the star-shaped crust, tomato sauce, mozzarella, spicy Calabrese salami and basil.

L’Appetito Pizza & Deli

Here’s another Caesar worth knowing at a place you’re probably visiting for pizza. L’Appetito keeps theirs straightforward with romaine, croutons, shaved Parmesan and Caesar dressing, with chicken or shrimp available to add. Pair it with the garlic knots and the L’Appetito Original, topped with sausage, roasted red peppers and garlic.
