“Why,” you might ask, “would an upscale steak and pricy Italian restaurant – located in some of the priciest real estate on 5th Avenue – suddenly be offering 40% all menu items?” The answer lies in the recent change of ownership between Culinary Concepts, which owned Chops, Pazzo and another 5th Avenue eatery, Yabba Grill, and the Phalen Family of restaurants.
There have been a lot of changes in the Naples restaurant landscape in the past few years and acquisitions by the Phalen group have been one of the more notable trends. Known for casual local spots like Texas Tony’s and Pinchers, the Phalen group acquired an upscale seafood restaurant, The Bay House in 2021. Now, with the acquisition of Yabba, Pazzo and Chop’s, the Phalen Group will have a firm foothold in the 5th Avenue landscape.
The Phalen Group has temporarily closed Yabba to change the restaurant concept (they plan to reopen as Keeywaydin, a casual seafood restaurant), but they are offering customers 40% off all menu items at Chops and Pazzo through October 31st. Phalen has kept existing management in place.
What do we recommend if you have a chance to experience this incredible deal? The first destination would be Chop’s on 5th Avenue. The ambiance inside makes for a fabulous date night with bar, table and booth seating. We enjoy the City Style salad (ask for dressing on the side) and the Oysters Chopafeller to start. For entrée items we recommend the NY Strip Tasting, which includes 3oz each of USDA Prime, American Wagyu and Australian Wagyu. Nearby at Pazzo restaurant, calamari is served with seabass as an appetizer and their large portions of veal parmesan and chicken parmesan are local favorites.
