A Taste of New England in Naples: Kelly's Roast Beef is the Perfect Lunch Spot
If you’re planning a trip to Naples and looking for a good spot to grab lunch, you’ll want to add Kelly’s Roast Beef to your list. They just opened a new location at the Gateway Shoppes on Tamiami Trail North, and their killer roast beef sandwiches and lunch specials can't be missed.
Kelly’s has been a classic back in Massachusetts since 1951. It all started at a little hot dog stand on Revere Beach, when two friends, Frank McCarthy and Ray Carey, ended up with a bunch of extra roast beef after a wedding canceled next door. They decided to slice it thin, pile it onto hamburger rolls, and sell it—accidentally creating a New England icon.

Their signature sandwich is tender, thin-sliced roast beef topped with mayonnaise, American cheese, and BBQ sauce on a sesame bun. They roast their beef fresh in-house every day, but their menu also has lobster rolls, homemade clam chowder, scallops, whole-belly clams, and soft-serve ice cream (if you’ve left room for dessert).
Their lunch special can't be beat—although it doesn't include their roast beef. For just $5.55, you can order a Kelly's Smash Burger, Hot Dog, Fried Chicken Sandwich, or Fried Fish Sandwich served with french fries and a large fountain drink.
Kelly’s first came down to Florida a couple years ago, and now they’ve got five spots along the Gulf Coast with two locations in Naples. Whether you’re a New Englander missing a taste of home or just looking for something a little different while you’re here, Kelly’s should be on your list for a casual lunch.
For a perfect day, spend the morning at Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park sun-tanning and snorkeling, and then take the whole family for sandwiches and soft-serve at Kelly's. They'll thank you.
